Mark Smith - Saturday Jan 1

The Luke Fernie-trained Sheeza Belter kick-started her career with a hugely impressive win in the Magic Millions Plate (1100m) on Perth Cup day at Ascot to credit her sire Gold Standard with his first winner.

Ridden by Clint Johnston-Porter,  Sheeza Belter came with a barnstorming finish to defeat the favourite Costume Party (A Lot) by one and a half lengths with a further three-quarter length back to Sofia's Symphony (Smart Missile) in third.

She is the third winner from as many to race out of the winning Saxon mare Saxonbelle a half-sister to Group III ATC Southern Cross Stakes and Group III Newcastle JC Newmarket Hcp winner Special Reward, Group III WATC Sires' Produce Stakes winner Showy Chloe (Alfred Nobel) and Listed winner El Rijes (Eternity Range).
