Debut Barbaric Winner Adds to Tally

Tara Madgwick - Thursday Jul 30

Lyndhurst Stud’s value I Am Invincible stallion has made a pleasing start to his stud career with the Chris and Corey Munce trained first starter Armand becoming his fifth winner from just nine starters when saluting on Thursday.

Given a good grounding with three trials under his belt, Armand was still green when asked to find the line at Gatton, but got the job done when forging clear to win the 1100m maiden by half a length.

Armand was a $50,000 Magic Millions March Yearling purchase.

A $50,000 Magic Millions March yearling purchase for his trainers from the Lyndhurst Stud draft, Armand is the third winner from five foals to race from Dupre, a placed half-sister by Duporth to stakes-winner Nona in Command, the dam of South African Group winners Warrior and Pretty Young Thing.

Dupre produced another colt by Barbaric last spring before going to Better Than Ready.

A stallion with great fertility and good follow through crops to come, Barbaric has five winners from nine starters giving him the best strike rate of any of the first season sires in the Top 10 by winners.

Free of Danehill blood, he is priced to please at $6,600.
