TBNSW Stallion of the Month

Media Release - Wednesday Nov 4

Alabama Express presents as a new opportunity for NSW breeders, having relocated to Yulong Segenhoe this season after Yulong Stud acquired the famous NSW farm.

Alabama Express has his biggest crop so far of 2YOs to run this season.

An exciting young stallion, Alabama Express is by champion sire Redoute's Choice from the Encosta de Lago mare Lago Ovation. Trained by the late Mike Moroney, Alabama Express won four of his eight career starts and earnt more than $550,000 in prizemoney. His defining performance came in the prestigious G1 weight-for-age C.F. Orr Stakes (1400m), a race also won by his sire. Moroney described him as “more like dad than any other horse I’ve seen”.

Commencing stud duties in 2020, his first crops have produced elite performers, headed by champion filly Treasurethe Moment, alongside multiple stakes winners and high-priced yearlings that have sold for up to NZ$850,000. With eight stakes-winners already on the board, Alabama Express is establishing a reputation as a genuine rising force.
