Klocke tops November (Early) Sale at $400,000

Media Release - Wednesday Nov 4

Today’s Inglis Digital November (Early) Online Sale-topper Klocke (Zoustar) will continue his career in Hong Kong after selling to the Good Time Syndicate for $400,000.

The Chris Waller-trained 3YO was the subject of significant domestic and international bidding before eventually selling to Good Time Syndicate’s Pato Leung, who is “already dreaming’’ of Klocke possibly contesting the prestigious Hong Kong 4YO Series.

Klocke sold for $400,000.

Klocke was offered by the Coolmore Colts Syndicate and Eric Koh.

Leung confirmed Klocke – who has raced four times in Australia and is already Stakes placed - was purchased with the goal of contesting significant races in Hong Kong in the future.

“We’ll obviously see how he trains up and find the right trainer for him and discuss the future but potentially he’s a very good horse with a very good future we think that will be very good for Hong Kong,’’ Leung said.

“He could target the 4YO Series if he can get out to a distance. I don’t know if he’s up to a [Hong Kong] Derby but we’ll certainly see how far we can get him.

“[Inglis’ International Business Development Manager] Nicky [Wong] recommended the horse to me, he knows what I want and we’ve already bought several horses on Inglis Digital before, it’s a very good way to buy.’’

Klocke’s part-owner Eric Koh said the decision to sell the horse was simple.

“We were hoping he’d be a stallion prospect initially, we had big dreams but it didn’t work out and Coolmore were keen to move him on, which was fine, and the easiest way was to put it online with Inglis Digital,’’ Koh, who sold Chayan through the Inglis Chairman’s Sale this year for $5.6m and who purchased two horses at last month’s Inglis Ready2Race Sale, said.

“Today was a very good result. We had interest from Hong Kong before the sale but we chose Inglis Digital and we’re very pleased with how it has all worked out.’’

Representing the Coolmore Colts Syndicate, Brian McGuire added: “We’re really happy with the price of $400,000 for Klocke on behalf of the Coolmore Colts Syndicate and Eric Koh.

“We fielded a number of enquiries on him, which we always do when selling through Inglis Digital and it’s great to see the buyer being a repeat customer of our Colts Syndicate horses.

“We wish the new owner all the best and believe Klocke will race up in Hong Kong, where a number of our former Coolmore horses like Derby winner Cap Ferrat have raced successfully.’’

Today’s second-top lot was the 8YO mare Wrote To Arataki, which sold to Rollo Thomassi for $150,000.

Wrote To Arataki was offered by Sheamus Mills as agent for the mare’s trainer Matthew Williams.

“I found it a mind-blowing result and I’ll tell you why,’’ a delighted Mills said.

“What I found most interesting is a buyer has parted with $150,000 on this mare – and I believe that was her true value so it’s a totally fair result all round – without contacting the bloke selling it.

“You can put up media assets now – good videos, good photos etc – and basically sell a horse to anyone, from anywhere and I mean that as an absolute compliment to Inglis Digital, it goes to show how good the platform is and how much confidence buyers have in the platform and what is provided on the platform.

“People can basically buy a horse based off what they see in an ad or on a website.’’

In total today’s November (Early) Sale grossed $2,270,000.

Entries are now open for the Inglis Digital November (Late) Online Sale and will remain so until midnight next Wednesday, November 11.

The sale will run from November 13-18.
