Talented Home Affairs filly Affari has been the source of some frustration for connections with four second placings in a row this preparation, but with the addition of blinkers she broke the ice in style at Rosehill when powering clear to win the $100,000 Super Maiden over 1200m.

Trained by Chris Waller and ridden by James McDonald, Affari was given a positive ride to go forward and it proved a winning move as she settled into her rhythm and kicked right away in the straight to win by three and a half lengths as a hot favourite.
With a win and five placings from seven starts, Affari has banked over $100,000 in prizemoney and will take plenty of confidence from this win.

A $370,000 Magic Millions purchase from Glenlogarn Park for Star Thoroughbreds/Randwick Bloodstock Agency, Affari has run into some smart types this preparation having beaten by Barracks and Saffron Veil in her last two runs and those two horses are both entered for stakes races this Saturday.
“She’s been knocking on the door, but the blinkers, the good gate and a lovely ride from James had the desire effect today and that should stand her in good stead for her next run,” said stable representative Darren Beadman.
James McDonald was happy for Affari to get the win on the board.
“She goes well, but for whatever reason she has just kept finding one better, although they were all pretty good horses to be fair. Blinkers on today worked wonders and was a masterstroke, so hopefully she can go on with it,” he said.

Bred by Glenlogan Park, Affari is the second winner from three foals to race from Group II placed Super Too, a half-sister by Hinchinbrook to Group III winner Super One.
Glenlogan Park sold an I Am Invincible colt from Super Too at Inglis Easter this year for $460,000 to Go Bloodstock / Michael Freedman / Andrew Williams Bloodstock and the mare has foaled this spring producing a colt by Zoustar.
Affari is the tenth winner of the new season for Home Affairs, who is covering a sensational book of mares this spring at Coolmore at a fee of $176,000.
